Embrace Change
Tuesday's Sauce

Cal
Boy. Oh. Boy. I have been exposing myself to new environments lately.
Life has been exhilarating.
The amount of insight that has derived from these new exposures have been guiding me in my journey of elevation. New exposures gives one a chance to re-identify oneself, a channel to reinvent yourself. The excitement and challenge can be overwhelming to some in which they take it one of two ways; they recognize the challenge but are too fearful to take action or they are totally unaware and oblivious.
/exposure in reading
Eleanor Roosevelt said: “You must do the things you think you cannot do.”
Elevation is reached in levels. Nothing will change or elevation will not take place if you don’t do the things that scare you. The power is in jumping before you think you are ready. You will never be “ready.” Fear is the reason we sometimes lie to ourself that we are not ready. It is the fear speaking and making you believe those thoughts. Eleanor Roosevelt’s whole philosophy is that your full potential lives outside of your comfort-zone. I agree.
/exposure on social media
Joseph Awuah-Darko who is a Nigerian artist that I follow on IG. He posts videos of him writing his thoughts on a wall, the other day he posted this and the quote reads, “ when change knocks, growth will answer, embrace it.”
I had to write this quote in my planner to tether and remind myself to embrace the change I am going through in my life. I am faced with having to unlearn unhealthy habits that I adopted from my past in order to survive and protect myself. It is crazy when you learn that you are the problem, your way of thinking and acting is the problem.
Dan Koe who is another creator I follow, author of The Art of Focus, posted this today.
Don’t always take the easy route. When you challenge your standards, want more for yourself, and do the work to get what you want, you will end up with abundantly more. We mustn’t be scared of the time it will take because I bet you, you will spend more time distracting yourself than you would doing the thingggg.
/exposure IRL
This past weekend was Comic Con in New York, and because Jacob Javits Convention Center is not too far, a few celebrities came to eat at the restaurant I work at. Ron Perlman came in a few times, we had a conversation about his favorite Senegalese band. Sean Gunn came in. (didn’t get to connect with him) I got to know Cal Dodd, the voice actor of Wolverine in the 1992 animated series, and his wife, Dal. By the end of the weekend, it felt like saying goodbye to some friends.
Cal let me put his Wolverine Jacket. I joked about putting it in coat check and never giving it back. hahah, this is his most prized procession.

Dal
I will see them again inshallah. Together, they exuded love. They gave me hope about finding my person.
All these new exposures have been teaching me to DO THE THINGG. There is a new found level of understanding, way of being, standards I have for myself and the things I am involved in. The thing about learning and being better is there are no limit. There are no limits to the amount of elevation you can have.
