Be Present

Needing to live in the present is something that I came to a hard collision with this week. It dawned on me that living in the present is everything. Everything you own is in the present and what you own, you control. You own your words and how you use them. You own your beliefs and how far they stretch. You own your actions and how you react to situations. What is even crazier is that the present determines the future.

Living in the present is about striping your mind of how things should happen. Allow new experiences to take you where they do. Let go of the biases you have formed of what something or someone will teach you.

It dawned on me that I have been not honoring myself in living in the moment. I have been timid in the ways I approach what my reality can do for my future. I have been mundane in applying force or pressure to the resources I have around me. There are tools all around me that can get me to my dream and I lacked the self-awareness to see these opportunities.

Well, no more.

You see, I have changed. I am not the same person I was 15 years ago. I am not the same person I was 5 years ago. I am not the same person I was 2 years ago. I am not the same person I was 6 months ago. Hell, I am not the same person I was last week. I have evolved. I have changed. I am different.

Like Miss Lauren Hill says, “This is the first time you are meeting me.”

I have loved and I have lost. I challenge my fears now. I go after what I want. I don’t run away from my feelings. I believe in myself in achieving my dreams and goals. So why not?

I give myself permission to be present at the moment in time I am in. And because I recognize myself as a new version, to move how this new version of myself requires.

Living in the present is about being accepting of who you are today and honoring who you want to be. So, are you honoring who you want to be today?
